About Me

My photo
I’m a 60-year-old Aspergic gardening CAD-Monkey. Sardonic, cynical and with the political leanings of a social reformer, I’m also a toy and model figure collector, particularly interested in the history of plastics and plastic toys. Other interests are history, current affairs, modern art, and architecture, gardening and natural history. I love plain chocolate, fireworks and trees, but I don’t hug them, I do hug kittens. I hate ignorance, when it can be avoided, so I hate the 'educational' establishment and pity the millions they’ve failed with teaching-to-test and rote 'learning' and I hate the short-sighted stupidity of the entire ruling/industrial elite, with their planet destroying fascism and added “buy-one-get-one-free”. Likewise, I also have no time for fools and little time for the false crap we're all supposed to pretend we haven't noticed, or the games we're supposed to play. I will 'bite the hand that feeds', to remind it why it feeds.

History
I know very little about this company’s history, other than that it doesn’t seem to have produced much before 1988, to have changed its name and failed to filed accounts for 1990, suggesting that it didn’t do much in 1991, if anything at all.

Starting life as a general importer of household goods, after a year it seems to have switched to specialising in toys, of the rack/tree variety at the pocket-money end of the scale, and to have been quite prolific for about three years, holding licences (?) for Batman, Ghostbusters, Ninja Turtles, and others, and getting through three distinct logotypes, which is about one a year!

Some of their product was supplied by the Rado Industrial Co., of Hong Kong (who themselves traded as Ri-Toys), and they carried quite a bit of stuff also retailed in the USA by Gordy International (another importer/jobber), although that may have been more by accident than design – both using the same middle-man/shipper? Header/backing cards being over-printed with each issuer’s corporate bumf, along the bottom edge of otherwise identical cards.

Their standout piece (for figure collectors) was an Anime Mecha Robot set - Battle of the Bi-Trons - while a rather nice polystyrene tank-transporter, close to 1:76th scale, was included in an otherwise unremarkable ‘Army Men’ set cobbled-together from the products of several companies, including Rado. There was also a range of soft-toys, of the rag-doll type and flying novelties.
